Developing Leaders
Do What Leaders Do.
SERVE: Help Your Team Leaders Advance!
As network marketers, we all want a large organization made up of successful and productive team leaders. Mentoring your team in order to create leaders who can take care of their own groups is the only way to build a large, successful, long-lasting and growing organization.
What is the difference between a distributor and a leader? Often distributors are only temporary in any organization. It's sad but true. They might work hard and build an organization or they may chose to simply be a product user. Eventually, they may even quit. They will do only as much as they are motivated to do.
But, some will become leaders, just like you!
So, how do you develop leaders?
First, you must become a leader yourself. You have to "step up to the plate" so to speak and do what leaders do.
You have to set an example for your team. As soon as you become a IR (Independant Representive), you have a team and are the "team leader" of your business.
You need to help your team members advance to whatever level they want to; help them to achieve whatever their goals are for them. Look through your group and find your leaders. Work with them.
Talk to them, find out what their goals are. If they are happy being an IR, then don't except them to be doing what they need to do become a BRONZE, SILVER, GOLD or WORLD ELITE! But, if they want to become an GOLD or higher, they need to do what it takes to advance!
Be interested in them. Show them you're interested in their goals. Put their goals on your refrigerator. Talk to them about their goals. This is where the "make it in their interest to do it" comes in.
If you train your leaders to be effective, they will be self-motivated. This is very different from you trying to "pump them up," which doesn’t work.
Here are some important questions to ask about your leaders. Remember to ask yourself the same questions.
Have they done the getting started steps, set their goals, etc.?
Do they continue to get on the conference calls?
Do they go to meetings in their area (if available)?
Do they talk to you at least once a week, more often is even better?
Do they keep in touch with their team members?
Do they pass along information to their group? Or do they break the link in the chain?
Things you can do to help create strong leaders:
Role-play with your leaders, teach them to do 3-way calls, what to say, go over the beginners training with them.
Have your own group conference calls. Very powerful! Be the host and have special guest speakers. Have a Q&A session at the end of the call.
Help your group develop their product stories. Networking is a business of telling stories.
Remember, you can't build their organization for them, but you can help them, just as your enroller has helped you!
It starts with leadership.
Duplicating a proven method for success is the only way to assure an organization that is made up of successful and productive team leaders, and it all starts with your own effective leadership.
